Crash! Oh… you are a Mephilas alien!!! Great Demon King!! … Great Demon King!! Shall I be called the Great Demon King Mephilas!! Ha… y-yes! That’s right! Who are you!! This is the masked man from that martial arts tournament!!!?
It was interesting.
But why did Mephilas die after the Yapool battle?
You were alive when you were defeated, right?
Because I died in the OVA…
Have you read Mebius?
The fact that the OVA is perfectly canonical is such a source of confusion.
It’s interesting how Ultraman’s father faces off against Piccolo.
>>4Is Piccolo that weird character from Tarou?
If I do it now, I’ll definitely become Tiger’s grandpa.
The manga does not complement the entire timeline and becomes a separate content.
>>7So it was something that was done in the OVA, like Jack being a fake or Ace having a romance with the enemy female monster.
>>19Was that around the Carddass?
Hahaha, I loved the part where you knocked that Mazaron guy away!
Oh, there was an OVA…
>>9Mephilas is definitely Hiyama.
>>9There is also an OVA, and in the sequel, we properly defeated the Emperor Alien.
The OVA can be viewed on Tsuburaya’s subscription service.
I like that the monsters, who were told that they are just armed and not warriors, train anew and become true warriors.
When I read it again, it’s surprisingly just Dragon Ball, but was the original creator tired?
>>11It might be that Sanjo Riku was in discussions about the jump.
I might not have been connecting it.
>>14There’s no way I’m letting that happen!!
If you haven’t read the new chapter, I definitely want you to read it.
Neos will be active!
It’s a level of mystery as to why I wasn’t scolded.
Super Saiyan
Super Fighter
I read the behind-the-scenes story, but I forgot.
I’m going to reread some behind-the-scenes stories.
Originally, Sanjo Riku dreamed of becoming “the uncle who creates stories about Ultraman when he grows up.”
I was engaged in the editing work for a children’s gravure book (the full-color one) of Ultraman alongside the original work of Dai’s Great Adventure.
– I was approached by Bandai with a request to create new content that uses famous popular IPs like Knight Gundam for Carddas, but can develop storylines unrelated to the original work, and Riku Sanjo suggested Ultraman.
As an analysis of the hit of Knight Gundam, it was conceptually based on “Gundam being the Dragon Quest,” so we decided to create “Ultraman Saint Seiya.”
“I wrote a character setting incorporating the jump method by making ‘Mephilas Piccolo’ and ‘Yapool Frieza’.”
Although Carddass didn’t sell well, the gachapon with the concept of “becoming the original Ultraman when the armor is removed” was a big hit.
Until Tiga debuted, there was a blank period for Ultraman, and during that time, Ultraman was supported and gained trust from Tsuburaya Productions. However, it was determined by the publisher to end the manga, judging that the content’s lifespan was over due to the situation where “Tiga’s gashapon sold better.”
Like this.
Well, if we’re going to do Tiga, there’s no helping it…
It has lasted longer than I thought.
The sequel was inspired by the editor of Weekly Shonen Champion, who loved Chōtōshi Gekiden when he was a child.
They say that once they became an adult and gained power, they negotiated with the publisher to realize the reissue of the original work and its continuation.
It was a project heavily influenced by the strong intentions of a rather powerful otaku.
Riku Sanjo is a salaried employee of a planning company that is not independent, so unless there are external pressures or project requests, he does not propose sequels on his own. However, he is not the type to refuse if a sequel proposal is made, so he will proceed if there is a request through the company.
When I was tired from Dragon Quest: Dai’s Great Adventure, I would make a Ultraman mook book to heal myself, which is just so ultra in my head.
So, based on the strong demands of powerful otaku, could a sequel be made for something like Gaiking, which had been streaming recently…?
>>27I seriously did the first episode of the Kyoryuger sequel because of an unrelated social game offer.
It seems that they basically don’t refuse if the schedule permits.
The requests aren’t just for scripts; they also call me for generating ideas for new shows and toy designs, so as a manga writer, I’m a bit of an unusual person.
It feels like that was a time when we didn’t try to run alongside Tiga’s gacha.
It’s really hectic, I would say.
The character positions are properly differentiated in the story of Dragon Ball, so that’s good.
>>30Yappu, who was both Frieza and Cell’s position, is reconciling.
>>57Truly revered Taro.
Thanks to this and Ultraman Ninja, I’ve been able to know about Ultraman and have enjoyed Ultraman ◯ content since Tiga.
There’s a strange mix of salaryman mentality and hobbyist spirit in Sanjo, isn’t there?
As a professional, I am committed! On the other hand, I’m coming up with all the ideas that I like!
I guess you’re good at finding a balance between likes and dislikes regarding work; although it’s not a 100% success rate, it’s impressive.
I feel like I’m a slow starter.
I like the rare occasions when Urushin goes completely crazy and has a heated development.
What was that~~~ huh~ what was that~~~ Picking my nose! Last time! In the fierce battle with the King of Hatred, those words were that Manni-chan wasn’t a just ninja. Justice!! Peace!! Love!! Trust!! Friendship!! Freedom!! Huh! Tawarishirou? Manni-chan is the worst! Certainly! The words Manni-chan said during the battle with the King of Hatred, they feel completely different now~ I feel that way too…
Then it returns to a gag development.
There was also a story that Toei forcibly inserted the script for Kiramager without going through the parent company at all.
It’s about the extra robot you made (King Express), so just do it.
I have a memory of reading about spaceships in a magazine.
I’m writing a manga adaptation and a script for Kamen Rider Zero-One, and I’m feeling overwhelmed.
Looking back now, with the settings quite organized, I feel like various characters are going on adventures… but at the time, I just accepted it as normal.
>>36I was a passionate otaku of Ultraman.
“I don’t wear armor because I’m weak (it’s armor to protect my weaknesses).”
“Unlike SD Gundam, it continues the story of the original work.”
“The first generation man will never be made a stepping stone (often seen as inferior in other content).”
I think it had a lot of points that tickled the otaku spirit because there was a strong commitment to it.
>>40They clearly distinguished between warriors and just those who were armed.
Monsters that became fighters through training were really exciting.
>>45It’s great that in the sequel, the warrior Gomora has become noticeably stronger following the developments of the main story.
I was surprised when Fighter Taro said it was still too early for you to take on a disciple, but I never expected you to have a son.
Mr. Sanjo calls himself a handy jack-of-all-trades.
This skilled person is too capable.
I really want to see fighters Belial and Tiger.
Is this what Mephilas meant when he said, “There is blood, but no tears”?
In ancient times, the first Ultraman was treated like a common character, weaker than other Ultramen in many ways.
I think there have been fewer of those things in this work.
>>43Originally, the trend of guest appearances in the past was that they would be monsters with such strength that they could defeat that senior warrior!
>>51It was mainly centered around content like Andromelos and gravure books.
Almost all of the introductions were just stronger than all the past Ultramen.
I thought it’d be nice to see the interaction between my ace and Zett in the naming parent setting.
It’s the basic strategy of battle to reduce the numbers of the weak ones.
During the new developments, Ace was repeatedly shouting, “Taro’s disciple? Ginga?”
Fighter Space Dinosaur?
Our ace over here is just as much a comedy relief as Zett…
The coolness of Powered Zeton is still burned into my heart.
I want to see a Gala Fi with a Sanjo script just once.
Electromagnetic barriers are great, aren’t they?
Mr. Hongo has never been one to get sidelined, even in the past.
Taro!! Taro!! Help me, Ultraman! Incredible strength from superb muscle powers and unknown super abilities!! Zoffy? This is… impressive!!? Well… a masked dream!? I was trying to make you proud, but wow, Ultraman’s special attack, Shar~in!!! Why… hmm… I finally got it. Hehehe… Born to serve a mission, useful in the ultimate situation, a warrior meant to perplex! Stop it, what is this situation!? How did it come to this? Envious thoughts! Lame, anything works. After all, if we are going to win, is it really feeling like we’re fighting?
Because the person is an otaku.
I think they took into account the points that Ultraman fans wouldn’t get angry about.
I liked that there were properly recognized members in the story, even if they were just named background characters.
The relationship between Taro Mephilas and the Ultra Fighters is somewhat similar, and their fighting styles of combat and beam attacks give a similar impression.
So, was the strange priest Mazarun in the Dragon Ball?
It’s funny that I changed my pen name because I incorporated too much of Shueisha’s flavor.
▼Jump Method Injection. Professor Sanjo is a true Ultraman devotee, after all. There’s no way he would let characters use items just because they are “weak.” That’s right. He maintains that boundary. And the super beasts definitely hold positions similar to Frieza and Piccolo, aligning with “Jump” motifs. This is the practical application of the Jump Method by an active Jump writer. Well, that’s how it will be, yes (laughs). During the serialization, was there anything that made you happy? Of course. I created a new pen name for this. To bring the mysterious presence of the Emperor Alien, which has always been enigmatic within the original Ultraman universe, into the story—this would definitely not have been possible without building a trusting relationship with Tsuburaya Productions through this development. “Gekiden” truly was the era of the Ultraman series.
“Because you’re saying ‘of course.'”
I understand now that I was doing it because I needed to hide it at a level that I can reveal only now.
Isn’t it tough at ten times?
I really loved the armor of Seven that turns into weapons from the airplane.
I imagine fighters like New Generation, but they have their own armor, their body shape changes drastically with form changes, and they can combine, so it’s tough for them…
If I use the name Sanjo Riku, I’ll get scolded by Shueisha.
I only know the Game Boy version.
I remember getting by with crouching kicks.
In this dimensional world, the setting where Yappur limits his power because his body cannot endure the full force of combat really hit home for me when I was a kid.
The metal breastplate, which is armor for increasing defense, being restraints for power control is just too much…
The current Ultraman is just wearing armor normally…
Tiga became popular, damn it!
In the scene where Mephilas encourages in place of the dead man, and where Hadlar encourages Pop, who was about to give up after falling into Kilburn’s trap, it somehow reminded me of my childhood, but I was convinced later when I found out they were the same people.
The masked man is causing too much trouble, and the Ace says, “I can’t deal with a masked man whose identity is unknown anymore!”
“I was told it would be fine this time, but in the end, the masked man messed things up.”
I like the setting of Jumbo King in this manga, and I thought that the original Jumbo King was based on the most vengeful Matheron.
Not only is the parody character strict, but they also released a character from “Dragon Ball” without permission in “Dr. Slump.”
The Dragon Ball side can’t really complain…
