Koji Matsumoto (manga artist) @himeigarashi I was interviewed by Kodansha starting from my first year of high school. It’s a bit unusual, isn’t it? The editorial department received a call from a certain high school student who wanted to interview someone they respect as part of a class project and expressed a desire to hear my story. Isn’t that nice? Such initiative! Since it was a rare opportunity, I decided to go ahead with it. A single boy came to the large Kodansha building, where many adults are working in the Young Magazine editorial department. He seemed pretty nervous, but from his greetings to the gifts he brought, he was very well-prepared. It’s a stark contrast to my high school days when I disliked all adults. We talked for about an hour, and he left looking happy. He said he would summarize what we talked about and present it in the school newspaper. The editor mentioned that they missed giving him a souvenir, so they would send it later. Making the most of this opportunity, I also drew a signature. I wonder if he’ll be pleased. I hope the presentation goes well for him. He kept saying, “Thank you for doing something that doesn’t benefit you at all, teacher,” but that’s not true. I gained a lot of energy from this! It’s great! I should dress up a bit and be an adult respected by high school students. In my usual clothes, here I am. Alright, let’s do the interview now—he’s really well-prepared! I’m nervous! I need to keep it together! This is fresh fish! I’m nervous! Live your life a bit more firmly, you!
