[Nintendo Switch] I’ll change the shell of the Switch Lite.

1: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx14

The disassembly for today has arrived…

2: Japan Otaku Reviews

What’s wrong with pink!

3: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

Here comes the sheer help again!

4: Japan Otaku Reviews

Has the Switch that stopped working properly been fixed?

7: Japan Otaku Reviews

The contents of the metal shield look like this.

The contents of lite are simple and not very complicated.

>>4

It has healed.

13: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx13

>>7

I feel like it’s different from the simple I know…

5: Japan Otaku Reviews

Isn’t it happening quite often?!

6: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

This Switch Lite wants to be disassembled.

8: Japan Otaku Reviews

Why don’t you try attaching a MOD chip?

9: Japan Otaku Reviews

Are you going to replace the display as well?

10: Japan Otaku Reviews

When broken down, it looks like this.

When broken down, it looks like this.

11: Japan Otaku Reviews

Lite could have offered more color variations.

12: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

It was more thoroughly dismantled than I thought…

14: Japan Otaku Reviews

Such a small battery can power that kind of movement, huh?

15: Japan Otaku Reviews

The circuit board for the left trigger part is separate, isn’t it?

16: Japan Otaku Reviews

Are you okay? Will there be any leftover parts after assembling?

17: Japan Otaku Reviews

Warm the screen with a Yutapon and remove the double-sided tape.

While it’s warming up, I’ll change the parts with ZR and ZL and transplant the SD card cover part.

Please heat the blanket in the microwave.

18: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

Here comes Yutapon again!

31: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>18

Yutapon is warm, you know…

19: Japan Otaku Reviews

Can a light stick be easily repaired even if it breaks?

20: Japan Otaku Reviews

What is that round thing in the middle? A speaker?

21: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>20

If it’s the same as the Switch, then it’s a cooling fan.

22: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>20

Fan

27: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>22

Ah, I see, so the copper plate above the fan is like a heat sink that cools the CPU.

23: Japan Otaku Reviews

All that’s left is to assemble it.

And as you can see, the screen color remains pink.

Actually, the screen of the lite is the same color as the main body, so there is a difference with the shell.

25: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>23

I like the two-tone color.

26: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>23

Isn’t it possible to just replace the screen frame?

24: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

STD Toad color

28: Japan Otaku Reviews

It has a luxurious feel.

29: Japan Otaku Reviews

Are the buttons and sticks reused?

36: Japan Otaku Reviews

The back looks like this in chrome red.

I wanted the lite that I always hold in my hand to be in my favorite color.

>>29

The shell had a button, but I reused it as it is.

41: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx7

That’s cool.

>>36

Why did you buy pink…?

45: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>41

I think it’s probably only pastel colors, so it’s meant to be changed out.

47: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>41

The used pink one sold nearby was the cheapest.

The left stick is broken, and it’s 9000 yen.

I planned to change the shell, so I thought any color would be fine, but after I bought it, I learned about the screen specifications and got bummed out.

I should have gone with the Dialga-Palkia model…

50: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

>>36

Nice color.

30: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

I can do it if I peel off the screen, but I don’t have the skill to do that.

So, attach the film with the colored border and it’s complete.

32: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

It has a metallic feel reminiscent of the PSP, which is nice.

33: Japan Otaku Reviews

That’s cool.

34: Japan Otaku Reviews

I also bought a used one and replaced the battery and stick with new ones.

I thought the adhesive holding the battery was too strong.

35: Japan Otaku Reviews

This is nice.

I want to do it too.

37: Japan Otaku Reviews

I was wondering what a compatible battery would be like, and it’s cheap…

Disassembly seems a bit challenging.

38: Japan Otaku Reviews

Is it the WonderSwan?

39: Japan Otaku Reviews

I always thought that swapping something like this would require soldering.

40: Japan Otaku Reviews

Wasn’t it quite hot after warming up the Yutapon in the microwave for about 1 minute and 30 seconds…?

42: Japan Otaku Reviews

If it’s not hot, it won’t peel off.

43: Japan Otaku Reviews

That’s a nice color.

44: Japan Otaku Reviews

Today too!?

46: Japan Otaku Reviews

Aren’t they going to make the buttons and sticks black and the bezel gold to match the Famicom colors?

48: Japan Otaku Reviews

Aluminum housing?

49: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

It feels like I’ll eventually get warned from Kyoto or something…

58: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

>>49

There’s no problem with just swapping out the shell of the device you use yourself.

51: Japan Otaku Reviews

Replacement parts will start to circulate around the late hardware phase anyway…

52: Japan Otaku Reviews

I want to take apart my Lite because the button behavior is strange…

53: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx5

There are parts that are broken and need to be replaced, but I want to put back as many original parts as possible. There are various parts available for sale, but their accuracy is a bit questionable.

54: Japan Otaku Reviews

I have also changed the shell of my iPhone, but I wonder what line that color, which is impossible for the original, was manufactured on and where it came from…

55: Japan Otaku Reviews

I’m impressed that something as simple as double-sided tape is used in unexpectedly important parts.

56: Japan Otaku Reviews

Was the broken left stick component replaced?

57: Japan Otaku Reviews

I wonder if they buy shells from places like AliExpress.

59: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s not allowed to sell it, but it’s fine to use it for yourself.

60: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

It seems a new model is coming out, so I was thinking about buying a Switch soon, since the current model is in its final stages, and maybe changing the shell as well. I did it with that mindset, but it turned out to be more fun than I expected.

The total cost for two main units and shells for replacing Joy-Con and Pro Controllers ended up being a little cheaper than a new Switch.

Since there’s nothing left to disassemble, I’ll quietly play.

61: Japan Otaku Reviews

Hey, hey, hey…

I can’t… do it…

62: Japan Otaku Reviews

I could do this much too.

63: Japan Otaku Reviews

There have been recent developments like the organic EL display and HDMI output for the Switch light, but is anyone in this thread interested?

72: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>63

It seems that lite can also do wireless charging.

If I’m going to do it, I’ll consider it when the main unit becomes cheaper, which will be a long time from now.

64: Japan Otaku Reviews

I can at least take off a screw!

It looks like it’s about to break even though I haven’t done anything…

65: Japan Otaku Reviews

Even screws can get stripped if you let your guard down.

67: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

With good taste.

68: Japan Otaku Reviews

I’m hesitant to use a heat gun for the adhesion of delicate parts like this LCD, but it can come off with Yutapon?

71: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

I think people with skills are amazing.

73: Japan Otaku Reviews

Looks fun.

If there are any cheap used ones for lite, I might try buying one for practice.

74: Japan Otaku Reviews

I heard there are two types of screws when disassembling the Switch.

75: Japan Otaku Reviews

I wonder if it’s possible to limit the heat generation to a level that doesn’t require cooling, even with the current performance of the Switch.

77: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s really impressive that there are people who can properly repair things and make them work again…

78: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

It’s really frustrating that there are situations where it’s difficult to send things for official repairs due to save data issues with games like Pokémon and Animal Crossing.

79: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>78

It’s like transferring to a new aircraft and then sending the old one for repairs…
