I’ve only done bad things…

2: Japan Otaku Reviews

This week had a strange pull, though.

It doesn’t seem like anything too strange will happen next time either.

3: Japan Otaku Reviews

Hey, Ryoma is a really good person, but he had a psychopathic side that showed no hesitation when it came to killing.

4: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

...I see.

A photograph from the time of Nakamura Hanjiro. The woman next to him is Murata Sato, the daughter of the “Murataya Pawn Shop” on Shijo Street in Kyoto, and was the lover of Kirino. (Source: Wikipedia) The first image is one where I used image editing software to remove the shadow on Sato’s left cheek, but while doing that, I noticed something. Upon closer inspection, there appears to be a faint trace of rouge on Sato’s lips and the corners of her eyes. An up-close shot of Sato’s mouth in the edited image shows what looks like lipstick on the edge of her lower lip. Considering this, the comparison with Hanjiro’s skin tone, and the subtly visible color of Sato’s bangs, it seems that Sato likely applied white powder all over her face like a maiko. I was planning to introduce this as a charming episode, thinking that Sato, who was considered “older” at the time, tried to conceal her age by applying white powder so as not to be noticed. However, upon further reflection, that probably isn’t the case. The fact that she was made up as a maiko might directly imply that Sato was merely “a woman for amusement” to Hanjiro, a thought that makes me want to feel ashamed of my own conclusions. Yet, given the situation, it probably wasn’t what Hanjiro wanted. “I can’t show my family the photo taken with a town girl, so could you dress up as a maiko?” Sato likely realized that “the family they can’t show a photo to” referred to his wife. Her stunned expression seems to indicate that she has just learned about Hanjiro’s wife and is in shock. Although this was supposed to be a memorable photo shoot with her beloved, she was confronted with the cruel reality that she was just a companion. What kind of feelings did Sato have as she posed in that way? In reality, to calm her heart, there was undoubtedly a feeling among the men involved in the shoot that “showing mercy to a woman is not manly.” Sato Murata lived her entire life single, but I don’t think it was just a pretty story about her unwavering love for Hanjiro. Having been intimate with Hanjiro while knowing he had a wife, Sato must have realized the cruel truth, and was likely in a state said to be “an unanchored person” at the time, which reflects a harsh reality beyond merely personal judgment. The truth might be that the Murata family could not send Sato off to another family. Later in life, Sato, through connections with the Murata family that were supported by Christianity, met the Niijima couple, Jō and Yae, and received baptism in Christianity. I cannot help but pray for how much Sato gained from her faith and whether she found salvation.

…I see.

I couldn’t find a photo of Sawako.

Kawaji's heart is made of cow dung...

Yes, the house is right there, so really!? I heard something good~! Let’s do it next time!

Kawaji’s heart is made of cow dung…

14: Japan Otaku Reviews

Kawa-chan’s wife will probably get involved in weird dirty jokes from now on…

15: Japan Otaku Reviews

I never thought a girl like this would go to buy kamaboko so often that she would be mistaken for a kamaboko shop.

16: Japan Otaku Reviews

16: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s the best… I really love tsukage. Even after becoming the wife of the great lord, Sawako made sure to prepare fabrics without fail, leading the fish cake shop to mistakenly think, “She comes here every day, so I thought she was a chef.”

17: Japan Otaku Reviews

You’re so lovey-dovey!

18: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx9

But I’m glad that there’s still a part of me that isn’t completely jaded like Kawaji and shows a bit of greed.

34: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>18

It seems that Fouche had a strong sense of family love too.

The source is Hado Shingeki.

19: Japan Otaku Reviews

Do you have a heart, you?

20: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

You’re the worst, Toshiaki.

21: Japan Otaku Reviews

I can’t believe Kawaji is doing a romantic comedy like a regular person at this point…

23: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

Once an average person starts trying to identify the house of someone they like, they are already just one step away from getting caught.

I started saying something like a stalker, but is that okay…?

22: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s really good, isn’t it?

25: Japan Otaku Reviews

Kawa-chan, if you only have one-sided feelings, does that mean you’re on the stalker course?

26: Japan Otaku Reviews

It seems that Moja becomes clumsy around beautiful women unless he is in work mode.

It seems like Kawaji could easily pinpoint the house.

27: Japan Otaku Reviews

It was peaceful this week. Next week will probably feel even more like the late Edo period than usual.

28: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

This author sometimes lays down ominous foreshadowing only to resolve it in the worst possible way, while at other times it turns out to be nothing at all…

29: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

Despite showing such a normal affection for women throughout the story, Mojapyon…

Deep down, I can only have a cold perspective that women will inevitably leave me, which is too dark, right?

30: Japan Otaku Reviews

At least this couple seemed to be in love…

31: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

Even without a connection, Kawaji would probably do his best to manipulate things by every possible means.

36: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>31

Is the kind of manipulation that Kawaji does similar to brainwashing or something like that?

32: Japan Otaku Reviews

What has happened to the end of the Edo period…

33: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s barely a samurai, more like a borderline stalker.

35: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>33

(I’ll identify it next time.)

37: Japan Otaku Reviews

You’re the worst, Hanjirou.

I will assist Saigo.

38: Japan Otaku Reviews

I read “Ikebana no Hanjirou.”

It seems that back then, in Kyoto, I was having sex with a nun all the time.

40: Japan Otaku Reviews

Isn’t it a crime for a father who is a police officer to be a stalker?

41: Japan Otaku Reviews

Careful foreshadowing for two consecutive weeks.

Well then, thank you very much. The way you smile is endearing to people. But Kawaji, isn’t there anything you’re concerned about regarding your bride? I’m really glad you’ve connected with a good family. It’s true that the person may mumble about seeing a bride for the first time. If the other party is not just mediocre, no matter what kind of trial they face, it’s the duty of a samurai to overcome it. Samurai marriage is about uniting families. Anyway, since it’s advantageous for the man’s side, it might be embarrassing for a samurai to worry about women. Therefore, it’s important to choose a fine man as a partner, and opinions regarding marriage should be able to be decided between families. For example, when Yoshida Shoin’s sister had a match, Genzui KUSAKA said “I’m getting tired of this,” and was pressured by his friends to get married. Yoshida Shoin was trying to marry his sister to Katsu Kogoro. Things have become quite complicated between men and women. No matter how caring Kawaji is, we have to teach that men who care too much about women might not get the right attention. It might be embarrassing for a samurai to be concerned about women. Kawaji, men’s lives have been tough.

Careful foreshadowing for two consecutive weeks.

42: Japan Otaku Reviews

Is Hanjiro’s wife ugly, I wonder…

43: Japan Otaku Reviews

I’m confused when cute characters appear in Danganronpa.

Isn’t this person going to throw poop or something later?

44: Japan Otaku Reviews

From a man’s perspective, Hanjiro is a refreshing guy, like splitting bamboo.

From a woman’s perspective, Kawaji is a straightforward and pure-hearted guy.

45: Japan Otaku Reviews

So that’s what “daiyame” meant…

The reviews of Hanjirou on Wikipedia are mostly very complimentary.

He must have actually been a charming person.

I don’t know the opinions from women.

Tachibana Shinbei’s exit is also less than a year.

On July 21, they followed Sakon and attacked him in Kiyamachi, Kyoto. They relentlessly chased the fleeing Sakon to the banks of the Kamo River, beheaded him, and then displayed his severed head in Pontocho.

The site of Seiichiro Honma’s accident (below Kiyamachi Sanjo in Kyoto)

In August, through the mediation of Ogawa, I was introduced to Takechi Zuizan of the Tosa Loyalist Party and formed a brotherhood with him. From then on, Shinbe became allied with Okada Izō and others, and they began to assassinate those whose names were suggested to them. It is said that they collectively attacked and assassinated individuals such as Honma Seiichirō, Watanabe Kinzaburō, Ōkawara Shigezō, Mori Magoroku, and Ueda Sukenojō (Gōshū Ishibe Incident).

On May 20, 1863 (July 5, Bunkyu 3), Uesugi Kiyoshi was attacked and assassinated by multiple people outside Sakuhira Gate.

On May 26, he committed suicide under suspicion of assassinating Kōchi Ankokujō.

59: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>54

Because I quickly make my exit as the instigator, I think I’ve particularly been less in the spotlight in creative works among the four.

I want to see more of Kawaji’s human side.

63: Japan Otaku Reviews

I’m glad you have better luck with women than Moja.

64: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

66: Japan Otaku Reviews

71: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

>>66

Could you at least bring up humans?

65: Japan Otaku Reviews

Did you adopt a younger brother who loves Sawacchan’s satsuma-age?

69: Japan Otaku Reviews

Kawaji is an excellent man.

70: Japan Otaku Reviews

77: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>74

Stop it! Stop it!

76: Japan Otaku Reviews

Isn’t it great that such a man is the father of the Japanese police?

78: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>76

I killed my best friend and ended up watching my longtime boss get killed too!

79: Japan Otaku Reviews

Unpopular in the neighborhood! Father of the police!

Testicles! Poop! Police father!

80: Japan Otaku Reviews

It has become an amazing episode about Kawaji.

Episode: During the Battle of the Boshin War in the Tohmoriyama area, I was injured when an enemy bullet struck my torso. The bullet pierced my scrotum, but fortunately, I was unharmed. This was because the courage of Kawashō had first hung down over the battlefield. This anecdote indicates Kawashō’s symbolic day, and the Satsuma-han soldiers praised it as “Kawashō Rō’s testicles.” In the early part of the fifth year of the Meiji era (1872), when I first traveled to Europe, I felt the urge to relieve myself on a train heading from Marseille to Paris. Unable to find a toilet, I had no choice but to defecate on a newspaper I brought from Japan while seated. I wrapped the feces in the newspaper and threw it out of the train window while it was moving. Unfortunately, it hit a railway worker. As a result, the local paper reported that “a Japanese person brought feces into the transaction.” This incident, known as the “Feces Disposal Incident,” was reported in newspapers such as the Meiji Asahi Shimbun, becoming a famous humorous story in the early Meiji period. The health warnings posted in the military had a significant record, as over ten instances have been noted, which is the largest on record. In other words, it indicates the current condition of the “Warning System.” Given the smooth promotion and establishment of the local pillars, the contents related to personnel are significant. I also had a great fondness for curry, to the extent that I was considered to have had a culinary affinity during that time.

It has become an amazing episode about Kawaji.

82: Japan Otaku Reviews

Are you seriously going to ruin the love comedy of the people and then have your own love comedy?

84: Japan Otaku Reviews

When my wife's nephew appeared. He is the man who will later become the governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and then the governor of Gifu Prefecture. He is the man who will later become the grandfather of Franky Sakai. So, is that the caption that will be added...?

The family crest of the Kawaji family (six cherubim). Later, Toshikyo Kawaji, who served as the governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture, was the nephew of his wife and became adopted after Kawaji’s death. Actor Franky Sakai is the grandson of Toshikyo’s younger brother, who is the nephew of the chief police officer.

When my wife’s nephew appeared.

He is the man who will later become the governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and then the governor of Gifu Prefecture.

He is the man who will later become the grandfather of Franky Sakai.

So, is that the caption that will be added…?

85: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

There are too many dirty jokes being passed down about things like testicles and poop.

86: Japan Otaku Reviews

Whoa, Kawaji’s balls are amazing!

87: Japan Otaku Reviews

Did you lie for Taro Hanjirō, or were you asked to lie for him?

We’ve really become close, haven’t we?

88: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

Officer Momoki is properly cute, right?

90: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>88

But the bandits who keep the village girls as captives…

91: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>88

She’s cute and a nice person, but her beauty is like that of a gorilla…

89: Japan Otaku Reviews

Did the cow’s dung still have a human heart?

92: Japan Otaku Reviews

It seems that new facts or interpretations might emerge through the author’s connections from their research, so there is a possibility of a new addition to the Kintamaunko legend.

94: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>92

I wonder if we might find “the heartwarming episode of Yamagata Aritomo” that the author was calling for information about in the interview…

98: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

>>94

I only know of books that are positively written, like the short stories by Jiro Asada, even if they are just about laughing.

93: Japan Otaku Reviews

It might be the cutest wife of Kawaji in Taizonsko World.

96: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>93

Most of the women that appear are either gorillas or chimpanzees…

95: Japan Otaku Reviews

Shōtarō Ikenami has portrayed the “man-slayer Hanjirō” in a cool way, making it seem outdated, but it’s actually misleading.

Toshiaki seems like the kind of person who shouldn’t be out in the open too much.

99: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

>>95

All four great samurai murderers are like that.

103: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>99

When you fuse four people together, it’s like the manga Rurouni Kenshin, isn’t it?

105: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>103

The Kenshin model is Kawakami Gensai.

97: Japan Otaku Reviews

Judgment on Toshiaki.

Officer Momoki is cute, but somehow, a little bit of my father’s face flickers in the photo…

102: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>100

Make sure to securely place your father’s photo in your notebook, Officer Nameless.

101: Japan Otaku Reviews

Yamagata has plenty of old-timer episodes, but he’s been a jerk since he was young.

104: Japan Otaku Reviews

Is it some kind of foreshadowing that samurai are laughed at for marrying out of romantic feelings?

106: Japan Otaku Reviews

Taro’s Hanjirou stock is likely to drop significantly.

110: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>106

Is there a stock that will drop more than a triple homicide in its debut?

107: Japan Otaku Reviews

In the first place, compared to others, Momoki is still on the gorilla side…

108: Japan Otaku Reviews

Judge?

109: Japan Otaku Reviews

First of all, I don’t understand the three major romantic curiosities of the late Edo period at all, but I wonder whose “Love Hurricane No. 2” it is.

111: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>109

It’s Toshiaki, right?

112: Japan Otaku Reviews

Hey, Sanjiro from “Ohi Ryoma” kills without hesitation at a level that even Ryoma is taken aback, doesn’t care about being covered in blood, and wipes the slate clean by killing all his blunders—he’s a crazy guy.
