[Mobile Suit Gundam] Why doesn’t the Gym Sniper modified to Gym II specifications become the Gym Sniper II?

Otaku Review Image

RGM-79 Jim Sniper Custom is a test machine for the GM that was produced in small numbers towards the end of the One Year War. It is equipped with additional rocket boosters on the back and legs, and uses a prototype beam rifle designed for the RX-78 Gundam type. After the war, it underwent modifications to the GM II specification.

Jim Sniper Custom!

2: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:33Yeahx30

Isn’t that the Gym II Sniper Custom?

3: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:34Yeahx3

There is a bad situation where there is a modified unit customized for snipers and one that is a modified version of the original gym sniper designed for sniping.

5: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:41Yeahx6

>>3Is it about the land gym?
Who is it?

6: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:50Yeahx11

>>3Everything is wrong and it makes me laugh.

4: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:40

Jim Cannon 2

7: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:56

What exactly is a Gundam that’s been modified to the Jim II specifications?

8: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)07:59Yeahx3

>>7A gym renovation to Gym II specifications, Gym II.

9: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:01

GFF version Jim Sniper Custom!

10: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:06

Why was Gym Kai created?

11: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:12Yeahx5

The gym sniper III based on the gym modification was there, right?

12: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:15

Sniper 3 was supposed to be based on the Jim 2.

13: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:22Yeahx2

>>12Wasn’t it a modified gym base…?

15: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:33Yeahx14

Aren’t you all suspicious?

16: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:40Yeahx7

Gym Sniper – the one that gives the Ground Gym a sniper rifle.
Jim Sniper Custom is a high-performance general-purpose mobile suit modified for ace pilots.
Jim Sniper 2 is a high-performance general-purpose machine, an evolved version of the Jim Sniper Custom based on the Jim Command.
Gym Sniper 3 is a modified variant of the Gym Kai High Mobility Type, converted to Gym 2 specifications and upgraded to the Gym Sniper Custom series for sniping purposes.

I got a bit lost and don’t really know what I’m writing while I was researching.
I don’t know anything about gym snipers.

18: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:47Yeahx3

>>16The Gym Custom High Mobility Type is originally the Gym II specification of the Gym Custom.
The Gym Sniper III has different equipment.

21: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:52Yeahx3

>>16First, this naming convention is not connected, and in order to resolve that contradiction.
It’s complicated because it was born.

27: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:05Yeahx3

>>21Isn’t it just that you abbreviated it because it was long?

38: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:19

>>27It’s strange that the new vehicle comes with a custom from the start, so it’s somewhat understandable that the custom disappears.

17: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:45

I don’t even know if the word “sniper” has meanings other than marksman or not…

19: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:50Yeahx1

The 08 GM Sniper is easier to understand if you think of it as something a little different.

20: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:52

Is it for sniping?! Is it a general-purpose machine?! Which is it?!

44: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:30

>>20Except for the gym sniper, they are all general-purpose machines.

22: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:54

Jim Custom

23: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:55

>>22Gym renovation

24: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)08:55

I really want to snipe at the gym…

26: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:04Yeahx1

>>24Well, that’s because you made a lot, and you probably want to take care of everything with that.

42: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:27

>>24Not for sniping.

25: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:02

Furthermore, the Katoki version, which can be said to be a sniper custom based on the gym modification, has actually been commercialized, which can be confusing.

28: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:06Yeahx2

“Sniper is a term used in American football…”
I’m really surprised to see it explained in the old kit.

32: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:10Yeahx5

>>28(Does not exist in American football terminology)

29: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:07

Make a Jagan Sniper…

30: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:09

Let’s create a Gym Custom Sniper Custom and cause even more confusion.

35: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:13Yeahx2

>>30It says “Jim Sniper” in the product name.

31: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:09

If you recreate the GM Sniper Custom based on the TR-6, you can make the GM Sniper Custom 2.

34: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:12

It’s a high-performance machine capable of sniping, but the headgear on the head is for close combat visor protection.
The later developed sniper series has a visor that properly enhances sniping performance, so it has quite a different character.

36: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:16

Why is it always the gym?
Can’t tanks, cannons, and Gundam be sniped?

37: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:18

The Guncannon has thick armor, so I want it to move to the front.
I want the tank to be hit by indirect fire rather than direct fire.
The Gundam exploded when it was shot.

39: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:21

It’s a gym renovation.

40: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:21

The Gun Tank can snipe the Bandai headquarters in Asakusa from the Gunpla factory in Shizuoka with its shoulder cannon.

41: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:26Yeahx1

Gym Sniper Custom
That’s what you mean, right?

43: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:29Yeahx3

>>41This is a custom sniper (not for sniping) version of the gym machine.
It took a long time for variations such as guards and interceptors to emerge.

45: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:31Yeahx1

The Sniper Custom also has a Katoki version based on the Gym Command, which is a bit complicated.

46: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:31

Why does the appearance of the prototype mass-produced GM (for space) resemble the GM Custom?

51: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:36Yeahx1

>>46It felt like the 08th Team itself was based on Katoki’s design, similar to the Gouf and the Ball.

47: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:32

Is there a rule that the gym has to come up with names derived from American football?

48: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:32

I have equipment that is not specifically for sniping but can also be used for it.

49: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:33

Gun Cannon 2 is the successor to the Gun Cannon Heavy Armor type.
I think it’s the same as not becoming the Gun Cannon Heavy Armor Type 2.

50: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:35

The reason there are only snipers near the One Year War is that in later periods, even general-purpose mobile suits became capable of sniper operations.
I wonder if it’s because there’s no longer a need to customize for a sniper.

54: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:38

>>50There is a Hi-Zack Custom just in case, but that’s all.
It feels like the battlefield has become less extensive compared to the One Year War, and the pace of fighting has increased to the point where there’s no time for sniping.

52: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:37Yeahx1

The confusing part is that the sniper custom is not primarily a sniper machine.
It doesn’t mean a custom version of the gym sniper for sniping.

53: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:38

The appearance of the sniper custom in the thread is based on the specification of Backmayer, and it’s just that machines following that have become popular.
There may have been machines equipped more suited for sniping.

55: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:43

1. Mistake of the snapper
2. The mistake of the rugby sniper
In the Universal Century football, there is a position called sniper.
Which one is it?

56: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:43

I’m an amateur who doesn’t understand the difference between the mass-produced Gun Cannon and the light cannon.

57: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:44

>>56Is there a difference in appearance too?

58: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:44

>>56Let’s mass-produce this too!
“This is the only thing I can mass-produce!”

66: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:56

>>58This is the monster that Seira-san was rampaging around.

59: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:45

In the world of Zeke Axes, I guess I would become a Gelgoog Sniper.

60: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:46

In a world without actual combat data for Gundam, it would probably enter mass production based on the Gun Cannon.

61: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:48

>>60Well, according to the official history, by the time of “Gundam: Standing on the Earth,” the 4-8 units should have already become GM prototypes, so that kind of MSV setting is completely missing from this world.

62: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:50

I really can’t tell which is which in this series of aircraft.
Was it the Gym Sniper II or the Sniper Custom that could be used in the fallen colony?

65: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:52Yeahx1

>>62Sniper 2

63: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:50

What is the Gym 2 specification, to begin with?

64: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:52Yeahx1

>>63There is a sensor on the chest.

70: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:00

>>63I replaced the generator and cockpit with new ones.

71: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:00

>>70Hasn’t the backpack changed either?

74: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:02

>>71That’s a separate matter from the discussion about the Jim 2 specifications, as it pertains to high mobility configurations and equipment for mid-range support.

67: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:57

A group of aircraft whose series is completely unknown.
How are these guys connected?

68: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:57

However, I heard that the Federation is basically the villain, so it’s normal for there to be few variations.
Basically, in Gundam, the Earth is at fault, right?

69: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)09:59Yeahx3

It becomes easier to understand by following the order in which they were released in reality rather than the timeline within the work.

72: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:02

I thought the Earth Gym Sniper was just an Earth Gym in a different color, but before I knew it, the backpack had changed and the generator had been upgraded with new settings…

77: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:04

If you incorporate the technology of Gundam Mark 2 into the GM II, you get the GM III.
If you incorporate Nemo and S Gundam’s technology into Gym 2, you’ll end up with Nero.
If you incorporate Nemo and Barzam’s technology into Gym 2, you can create Jegan.

80: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:08

In some contexts, Sand 2 is referred to as Sniper Custom 2…

82: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:10

I’m sorry, I might be misunderstanding something, but is it basically okay for the thread images to be villains?

83: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:10Yeahx2

>>82It hasn’t appeared in the main story in the first place.

86: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:13

>>83I want to hear about the villains from things other than the main story…
I heard the federation is bad, but I don’t know if this is the federation.

89: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:16Yeahx5

>>86In the main story, I’m not a villain either.

91: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:18

>>89Isn’t it just the evil Federation and the righteous Zeon?

118: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:31Yeahx1

>>83You lie right away, don’t you?
>>83You lie right away, don't you?

85: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:13Yeahx5

>>82Why did you open the thread?

84: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:12Yeahx12

The person who keeps shouting “villain” is not reading the room, so please be quiet.

90: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:18Yeahx16

>>84Don’t let the pig take charge.

93: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:19Yeahx5

>>90Who the hell are you?

87: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:13Yeahx1

By the way, the wartime machines from the One Year War that appeared at the beginning of the thread are all updated to the Gym 2 standard, and the reason for this is that the all-around monitor setting is a cost-saving design that avoids having to depict the cockpit’s interior, so older machines are also subjected to this application.

88: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:14

The Zaku Cannon was given an awful color, but the thread image didn’t change.

92: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:19Yeahx4

The thread destruction was a huge success…

94: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:22Yeahx1

Don’t let the generalist call themselves a sniper!

96: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

>>94General gym snipers, shut up!

105: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:25

>>96It’s funny how when talking about the gym sniper custom series, the gym sniper really has no place to shine.

109: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:27Yeahx3

>>105The thing from ’08 is a sniper, but it’s not part of the series for high-performance general-purpose machines.

100: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

>>94In the end, variation seems to come down to this.

95: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

There’s no reasoning or rationale for an afterthought.

97: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

The gym sniper looks like the rifle is the main part.
It’s a pretty large setup since it also comes with a big cooling unit.

98: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

Gym Sniper Custom – Development started after the Solomon Battle.
Gym Sniper II was deployed in the Jaburo battle.

101: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:24

>>98Isn’t there only a week left until the end of the war?

108: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:27

>>101That’s right.
In a week, I mass-produced 50 units and also made variants for guard and intercept as a bonus, delivering them to the front lines.
Amazing, isn’t it, Federation?

102: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:24

>>98Is it correct that Sniper 1 already existed and that its custom version started development during the Solomon period?

113: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:30

>>102Sniper 1 is the one with a long-range beam rifle attached to the Ground Gym.

99: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:23

Is the Gym Custom a different type from the ones named “custom” as mentioned above?

106: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:25

>>99A production model designed for veteran pilots based on Alex’s basic design.

103: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:24

Should I release something like a beam saber-equipped gun cannon (without the cannon)?

104: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:25

The box art of the plastic model shows the GM Sniper II peering through the rifle’s scope with its visor lowered.
It was a bit surreal.

107: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:26

Since we are using a beam rifle for sniping, it makes sense that it would have a high-end generator, so I understand it becoming a premium model.
As expected, the name “Sniper 2” was bad.

112: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:29Yeahx1

>>107(The sniper rifle uses live ammunition)

110: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:28

After all, national power.
National power solves everything.

111: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:29

The visor of the sniper who mistook the Suna-Kasu, which is meant for sniping, as also being for sniping because it is a version of Suna 2 meant for sniping.

114: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:30

>>111In games and manga, they misunderstand and lower the visor to shoot, but originally it is supposed to be lowered when engaging in a saber duel.

115: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:30

I’m considering close combat as well, like the box beam saber, for the sniper custom.

116: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:30Yeahx5

Isn’t it stupid to talk about good and evil in a war story?

117: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:30Yeahx1

As for the role, it might be more like a marksman than a sniper…?

119: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:32

I sometimes think that the visor of the Snakaz might be in the way considering the placement of the gym-type sensors.

122: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:34

>>119It’s something to protect the sensor in close combat.

120: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:32

I wonder how strong the Gym Sniper Custom (Gym II specification) is.
I don’t even know how strong Gym II is to begin with…

125: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:35

>>120At the point of Z, it has performance that is almost worthless.

127: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:36

>>125It was considered old-fashioned, but it almost managed to defeat Dias by breaking his arm… even though there were quite a few of them…

131: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:39

>>127Lieutenant Emma also got her arm cut off by a Hizaack, so maybe we can’t let our guard down with the Dias yet.

121: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:34Yeahx1

I think Gym 2 has its significance just by standardizing the interiors of the various derived machines that were mixed up in Jaburo and Augusta during the war.

123: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:34

Is there a possibility of a Gym II Sniper 2?

124: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:34Yeahx1

The Gym Sniper (08) kit comes with all the weapons from the Ground Gym, which gives it a great sense of value and I liked it.

126: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:36

I saw a setting somewhere in the past that said the command system was too unique to be used in Gym II.
Probably a tall tale.

128: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:37

It’s great how Gym II is such a bestseller that updates can’t keep up…

129: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:38

Considerations on Mysterious Documents
Considerations on Mysterious Documents

130: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:38

The activities of Office Sniper-kun are quite impressive.

132: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:40Yeahx3

There is enjoyment in integrating added settings.
At the same time, there’s also the enjoyment of seeing someone struggling and thinking, “This is just reckless…!”

133: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:42

If you look at real weapons, it doesn’t generally take more than a few years for performance differences to appear.

136: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:43

>>133However, there was quite a difference between the early and late stages during World War II.

137: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:45

>>133It wasn’t like that during the war or soon after.
The development of jet fighters started a few years after World War II.

134: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:42

(The discrepancies in the settings have increased…!?)

135: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:43Yeahx2

The unnaturalness of the timing of the input is
Basically, I forgot that the official Solomon – A Baoa Qu battle is only a week long.
Despite that, it’s bad to stubbornly try to insert the new model reflecting data from the frontlines at this time.

139: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:48Yeahx1

>>135It’s not that I forgot; it’s just that such a setting didn’t exist at the time of MSV.
Since the setting for the end of the war on January 1st had not been established yet, the timeline for Abau Akuu and the overall schedule is longer, around March.

138: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:47

The F22, which is still active, might rather be in the position of the Jegan.

142: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:50

>>138If it’s still in service, isn’t it around the F-18?

140: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:50

At that time, the performance of the Jim II was nearly the same as that of the Jim.
Now that it has changed a lot, the settings for Gym II Sniper will likely be adjusted again.

141: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:50

There was indeed a plan for an anime adaptation of MSV itself.
The story of Z was brought up but ended up falling through.

143: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:51

Toys are not selling, right!

144: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:52

At that time, there was only a rough setting of the war ending in 0080.

145: Japan Otaku Reviews25/06/10(Tue)10:54

Guys that are like a sniper clan (but not an actual clan)…
