[Zeikin de Katta Hon] I was looking at a book bought with tax money and felt truly sorry!

There are too many screen transitions and clicks until the intended task is completed… First of all… the so-called UI… user interface… the screens and usability are quietly terrible. Terrible point (1): too many clicks.

1: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx5

We were making something like this in the company.

“Don’t try to be fancy with fades, just make it disappear in an instant.”

I was told that, right?

5: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

>>1

I was making software to sell, but the design department said to add a fade effect because it looked bad when it disappeared instantly.

2: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

Huh? It’s fine because it moves, I’m sorry.

3: Japan Otaku Reviews

The number of screen transitions and clicks doesn’t really bother me much in terms of business.

“Not knowing what is where is the worst.”

4: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx9

>>3

Well then, prepare a designer for me.

I am a programmer.

Don’t leave the UI/UX design to me.

10: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx8

>>4

No, no! It’s not like we need to prepare a designer.

Just make it easier to use your feelings!

28: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>3

Is it a blender?

6: Japan Otaku Reviews

If you let it out just once, the current users will be confused… so it will no longer allow any UI changes.

I’m told that it’s difficult to use, so do something about it…

7: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

The human brain cannot process everything at once, so please help me figure out where to look now.

8: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

It disappears in an instant, so I’m using a fade to cover it up.

9: Japan Otaku Reviews

Was it because of you guys…?

11: Japan Otaku Reviews

Aren’t there any competitions or contests for user-friendly UIs, like cooking?

14: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

>>11

It’s not that there aren’t any, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that there are people who participate in that kind of thing everywhere, just like in cooking.

51: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>11

It seems like a program that gathers elderly people who are not good with machines and makes them use technology would be made overseas.

Japan seems like it might receive some strange critiques about its design.

12: Japan Otaku Reviews

Even if I’m told to hurry, if I’m updating the database, I have to keep you waiting a bit…

13: Japan Otaku Reviews

It’s a hassle because it’s made with React.

It’s not just about adding tags to HTML.

15: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx5

Why is it that despite there being plenty of good UIs, we’re still seeing the creation of hellish UIs as if those good ones are being ignored?

19: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx4

>>15

There are cases where good UI can’t be used due to specifications.

Because there are more people who don’t know how to create good UI simply…

16: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

A good UI for users cannot be uniquely defined…

40: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>16

Whether for the elderly or for the youth.

It varies depending on whether it’s for public institutions or a stylish type.

17: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx6

If the necessary functions increase, there are only two choices: to either increase the amount of information per layer or to deepen the layers.

Both are disliked by end users.

18: Japan Otaku Reviews

The library’s catalog search system was certainly difficult to use.

20: Japan Otaku Reviews

They say that when information is summarized in one layer, the text becomes too small.

21: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx10

Public agency systems tend to create particularly poor outcomes because of the tedious process known as bidding.

22: Japan Otaku Reviews

The search functionality for the local library’s collection has been renewed, but the ease of operation remains relatively unchanged, for better or worse.

The search time and display have become slow…

23: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

Realistically, it’s just ridiculous how this design came about; is it from the client side or what?

24: Japan Otaku Reviews

I don’t know if it appeared in a manga or not.

In the case of libraries, it is a strict rule not to keep a record of borrowed history.

The skill lies in how to make that look like ordinary UX.

25: Japan Otaku Reviews

It is the customer’s responsibility to communicate the system requirements.

A useless system that does not meet the requirements is equivalent to saying that we, who could not convey the requirements, are incompetent.

Did you say it but crap came out? That’s the vendor’s fault.

26: Japan Otaku Reviews

The sense of completion for customers confident in their design…

27: Japan Otaku Reviews

No… I intended to be user-friendly…!

29: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

Is the design of loading displays also within the scope of UI/UX?

Is this progressing? Is it frozen? Can you please make it clearer?

30: Japan Otaku Reviews

I understand that creating a good UI is difficult.

Even the bare minimum is quite a high hurdle.

31: Japan Otaku Reviews

AI doesn’t create designs?

32: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>31

No, I can do it normally.

If you could properly request it from somewhere that would utilize it, we wouldn’t have created something like this before AI was around.

34: Japan Otaku Reviews

Following the target cause it to zigzag up and down, which gives me a headache.

35: Japan Otaku Reviews

If it’s something related to history, please create it similar to how it was before.

I won’t be using this button, but please make sure to position it properly since it was there before.

This happens repeatedly, and each time my heart becomes weary, ultimately leading me to the thought that it would be fine as long as I just take action.

36: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

For work, I don’t care about animations or display delays, just show me whatever is ready quickly.

37: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx2

Because we’ve already finished summarizing the requirements to convey to the AI…

38: Japan Otaku Reviews

Whether it’s intuitive or not can also vary depending on the scope of the work you have.

39: Japan Otaku Reviews

I think it’s ridiculous when someone says they can push it but only if it gives warnings instead of being inactive or validated.

You’re stupid, die.

41: Japan Otaku Reviews

A UI where buttons have increased as a result of cramming in requirements.

It seems there was no one to design with an overall view in mind…

42: Japan Otaku Reviews

I wish our company’s system would just disappear with all its inconsistencies, like getting rejected if not entered in half-width characters or the different ways to enter dates, and the line breaks being different between the input form and the printed output…

I can’t forgive that the input form allows me to type normally in full-width characters, but only when I press the register button does it say that half-width is necessary.

43: Japan Otaku Reviews

The UI of business systems is tough, isn’t it?

If it’s made to feel modern, veterans complain that it’s difficult to use.

I think it’s a world of unique design.

44: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

Veterans are not human, so ignore them.

45: Japan Otaku Reviews

If you react too quickly, there are times when the information processing on the operator’s side can’t keep up, so there are cases where they intentionally delay it a bit.

46: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx3

I’m so used to the QWERTY layout that when I see a UI with only the gojūon (50 sound) layout, I go “N” “N” “N”!!

47: Japan Otaku Reviews

>>33

I heard that for things like ticket purchasing or order panels, having 2 to 3 buttons on the initial screen is best.

But within the company, there will definitely be complaints from veterans, so it’s case by case.

48: Japan Otaku Reviews

The customer who pays is a human, not a computer, so there’s nothing that can be done about it.

49: Japan Otaku Reviews

I completely have a prejudice, but I think designers of business software are just those who endlessly move shelves from left to right claiming they’ve made improvements, and they’re worthless.

50: Japan Otaku Reviews

In this context, during a certain period, the full-text search function of the National Diet Library Digital Collection had discrepancies between the number of search results and the actual number of displayed results, and often did not transition normally even when pressing the next page button.

It was so bad that it felt like it was made by an amateur.

52: Japan Otaku Reviews

I think if the UI for library operations is optimized, they would all be the same.

The government offices have all had a similar structure since the minicomputer era with major vendors involved, but I wonder what the history of libraries has been like.

53: Japan Otaku Reviews

I’m not on-site, but I’m talking with the person in charge and creating it…

54: Japan Otaku Reviews

There are many cases where there are no proper designers, and programmers are just making things somewhat haphazardly.

60: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

>>54

If you would let me make it, how much easier it would have been.

55: Japan Otaku Reviews

Even though we are making it according to specifications, there are often cases where it gets released and we are told it can’t be used in the field.

Seriously pointless.

56: Japan Otaku Reviews

If I cater to the IT-illiterate old men, the amount of work will become overwhelming, so I have to give up on them to some extent or I won’t be able to manage.

57: Japan Otaku ReviewsYeahx1

e-tax and My Number are truly examples of terrible UI.

58: Japan Otaku Reviews

The site I use for work resets the search when I open a detail from the search results and go back, which is very inconvenient.

When I submitted a request for improvement, it said, “You can view the status of your inquiry here,” and provided a link to the inquiry list page, but I found it a bit funny that there was no link to that page on the top.

It’s not a laughing matter; once it’s closed, how do you open it?

59: Japan Otaku Reviews

I don’t need unnecessary effects, even if it’s not for work.

I’m doing this to see the results, so give it to me right away.

61: Japan Otaku Reviews

If you know what you’re going to do, you might not need anime.

To make it easier for inexperienced people to understand what is happening, some animation is necessary.

62: Japan Otaku Reviews

I understand that there’s not much data, so don’t write about animation or specifications, it just makes me think you’re an idiot.

63: Japan Otaku Reviews

This kind of thing usually has around 70% bad moves made at the time of ordering…
